Hi Folks,
I have a Debian Linux390 that mounts disks like this:
Mount /dev/dasd/0156/part1
And Suse Linux390 that mounts disks like this:
Mount /dev/dasdn1
If I want the Debian machine to link to the Suse machine's 0156 and mount it,
what's the correct format of the mount command? I've

I did the same thing.
And still had the same type of problem there.
Turned out that the ftp server on SLES8, needed a configuration file
change. I seem to recall it was CHROOT (something about putting
something in jail). In other words, your root was to be based on your

I had success when I built the FTP server on a SLES8 virtual machine
server - eliminated any "wire" problems - went OSA to OSA although could
have gone hipersockets or guest lan.

I've saw several anomalies with a sles 9 install.
First - Yes on the relative path. Had to use it.
Two - I could NOT for the life of me get the VNC to work. I even increased
the storage to something like 1024m. Somewhere I read info that VNC used

We tried that, but it didn't work. In fact the results were identical.

Well try specifying a relative path instead of an absolute path,

Check the Mike MacIsaac code mentioned in a few previous discussions on
setting up an install directory tree.

If you install a "minimal system", I don't think there is a difference
between 3 and 5:
# chkconfig --list | grep 3:on > runlevel3
# chkconfig --list | grep 5:on > runlevel5
# diff runlevel3
Leonard,
I believe the whole SLES9 product line is GUI-oriented, especially for
desktops. Even the documentation, which is delivered with the
zLinux-Distribution, covers the x86 world. So they didn't change the
settings for the s390 platform.

Hi list,
I am wondering that suse had changed the default runlevel from 3 (sles7 &
sles8) to 5 (sles9).
We got trouble since we did not realized this change. Does anyone know the
reason for this ?
And: is there any documentation about this ?
