Given what their request is - symlinks for their hardcoded stuff seems like
your only easy option.
I will add that if their requirement is to merge to /opt/IBM1 -- then this
has a prerequisite of eliminating those hard coded links. Wherever those
links are used should probably be gotten from some
Maybe I didn't get it, but can't you just make a new VG and make 2 logical
volumes on it, one at /opt/IBM1 and one at /opt/IBM2?(or all 3 if including
/opt/IBM ?)

Is there a tool to update and maintain the fstab on linux?
Manually editing it seems to be a real 'pain' with a lot of opportunity
for error.

Lionel,
When you ftp with anonymous the files known by the group ftp. A quick
bypass is to chmod the directory to 755 or 777 and that should get you in.
Then I would look at the config file of you ftp application - for instance

I setup a linux server (based on the novell starter kit) under z/vm to
serve installation media. In the anonymous ftp directory /srv/repository
(which the starter kit placed there) I created a link to my sles11
directory which is mounted on /dev/dasdd1. When I ftp in as anonymous I

starting zLinux experiments with zVM fully expecting the need to drop

next biennial budget cycle?
Well, you'll
