I really didn't like the idea of trying to link the disks from another zLinux ID... that seems very error-prone. But, if that's the only choice, it would have to do. Fortunately, we tracked down why the root password wasn't what we expected so we've recovered the password and fsck is underway

We have good experince of adding two VDISK for SWAP, about 64 MB each and one real physical nearly 400 MB, AND give it memory so it almost not do any paging. AND don't split one disk into partitions, use smaller disks with only one partition on each, much simpler. Cordialement / Vriendelijke Gro
