Actually it is possible with zPDT (MT 1090). You do need the latest zPDT
driver (49.17) plus an available patch on top of that. I know of several
people who have installed this patch and are running Ubuntu on zPDT.

Hello
At least for zPDT emulation (Machine Type 1090-Lx), it is not possible. The
Ubuntu 16.04.1 kernel are compiled and check for transaction execution
fcility instructions, presented only on z12 architecture and beyond.
When you IPL the operating system you will receive one error.

I can tell you that it did run on SLES 11.
SLES 10 SP1 is also out of support so unless you have an extended support

Hello
We have a customer running the following software:

DB2 Connect (forget the version)
We need to upgrade z/VM to a support version, probably 6.4 when it’s released

Question is, will SLES10 SP1 still run OK with that release of z/VM?

Hi,
thanks for you answer!

The optimization I did transforms numeric loops into equivalent loops
using SIMD load/store and arith. both for floats and integers. It is
less concerned with string vector operations.
So these are the basic optimizations g
You would have to use a 2nd level system and detach minidisks and such that the
2nd level system is using.
EREP gathers device i/o errors and CU notifications.
