RHEL 8.3 install stuck

Friends, We are trying to install RHEL 8.3 and the initial boot freezes at a specific point. Below is the parm file, the Q VSWITCH output for that machine, and the last several messages of the console log. I’m sure I’m missing something stupid, I just can’t see what it is. ro ramdisk_size=400

Looking for advice setting up SMC-D between RHEL and z/OS

One of my colleagues and I are trying to setup SMC-D between a RHEL 8 system and a z/OS system. More specifically: * z/OS 2.4 is running on an LPAR on a z15. * z/VM 7.1 is also running on a second LPAR on the same z15. * RHEL 8.3 is running as a guest of the VM system, using kernel version

Running SLES9 on z14 under zVM 6.4

Does anyone know if SLES9 will run on a z14, running under zVM 6.4? Or, has anyone tried to run SLES9 on a z14 under VM? We have 3 extremely old SLES9 servers that are still hanging around after all these years, and are planning on a z14 refresh in the coming months. I'm pretty sure they won't r

z/VM doesn't hide the hardware. In just about all cases, if it won't run in an LPAR, it also won't run under z/VM. I'm sure SLES 9 since it is so old starts up in ESA/390 mode and then switches to z/Architecture mode (64 bit.) The z14 doesn't support ESA/390 mode for Linux, so SLES 9 will not IP

only thing that pops to mind immediately is to make sure you're not limited by a single CPU thread. Similar issue can be seen when comparing a single thread transfer over a HiperSocket vs a dedicated OSA in a CPU unconstrained system. Maybe try comparing multiple processes running in parallel ?

CMS hasn’t been able to run without CP for probably at least 50 years. The change to DIAGNOSE I/O in CMS 5.5 (ca. 1988) sealed its fate. When I arrived in 1982 (end of R3), CMS was even then replete with DIAGNOSE dependencies that I suspect began in VM/370. Regards, Alan Altmark IBM > On Dec 8
