I ran into a similar problem when I moved a Linux system ... probably
unrelated.
I got my /etc/fstab file out of sync with my /boot/parmfile ... I would
compare those to
your guest's dasd configuration and your IPL address.

If you mean how do you specify the current directory , you use a period
as in
cp -R /home/httpd/vhosts/ftwjr.com/ .
should copy the ftwjr.com directory all of its' contents to the current
directory.
