Yes, you can. You cannot, however, have /boot on LVM.
zipl needs to have direct access to /boot (or, to be precise, to that
directory the 'target' directive in

we have brand new DS8000 installed here and defined some 3390 Mod. 54
for large DB's in SLES9-guests (FICON attached, ECKD).
Although CMS supports only up to Mod. 27 we simply used ICKDSF from z/OS
1.6
for writing VOL1 and a VTOC on CYL0 (for setting dasds online to z/OS for
backup)
and
