We have had problems with VNC also. We want to use xrdp because: 1) to us
it works faster, and; 2) the Debian guests will also have to access a
Windows environment. Using xrdp means we will not have to have a VNC

We have made a little progress with xrdp, here is where we are:
Our goal is to get xrdp working. I have successfully installed it (I had
to do it from source because the version installed via apt-get complains
about having the wrong endian). No problem, I fixed the required arch.h

when that didn't work I changed it back. I think it's running

Well - I wouldn't change it to 22 - it should be 3389 ... ssh should be
listening to 22. What is showing you that xrdp is listening on 22? Are
you sure it is started?

We are running Debian on z and all appears healthy with the exception of
connecting to it via xrdp. The xrdp server is installed and apparently
running (as per the xrdp site) but when I try to connect to it via Windows
remote desktop it times out. No firewall is up (for now) so all ports
