Try running it like this:
strace /usr/sbin/node ~/node-strace 21
This will run a system trace on the program and output all information
in a file called "node-strace" that will be in your home directory.
Examination of this file should reveal the nature of the problem with
the program.

I just tried rebuilding the node binary package from src and installed
it and when I run /usr/sbin/node - it still dies with no errors.
Perhaps I need to get into the src, but I'm not much of a c

Hello,
Have you ran axparms -assoc to associate your callsign with a username? Do
you have yourself configure in the node.perms?
I have aproblem where I feel I have myself configured correctly. I can get

Gerd,
make-kpkg doesn't rely on "make config".
You "make menuconfig", or "make xconfig" first,
Yes DEM's are the ones that I am talking about.
The software we use here comes from SoftWright, I use it to do

The first thing is to check your system logs (probably /var/log/messages)

Willy,
In the old node 0.2.4 I am running, there is a config file, node.perms,
that sets many permission levels and accesses. Check the corresponding one
in your setup, hope it still applies. Check your permission levels, and
others, too.
