Hi everyone,
Sorry for being Offtopic, but I think the subject is interesting for
many here.
I used to rent a server hosted at Actcom, but as many here probably
know, things are changing, and I won't be able to continue hosting this
server, and I am looking at other options.
My current needs
Didi,
I've been using VPS before, and I got burned. twice. You never know
who is your neighbour in the next VPS, and you really don't know
whatever your neighbour's application might choke the system.
Short story: the last time I used a VPS hosting, I had times where the
machine was so slow,
I agree, a VPS is recommended mainly if you need a managed server. if you
take a server at the states i might like to be a client.
Guy,
P.s
I am looking for a GURU PHP,MySQL programmer.

Hi all,
If anyone is using mirror.hamakor.org.il, please update your config
files to use http://mirror.isoc.org.il/pub/debian instead.
Thanks,
Shachar

I second that emotion.
We now use VPS for very non-critical applications only where it's not a big
deal if suddenly the performance goes down to a crawl or the server is
rebooted
Hi,
Are these prices in Israel? Last time I checked (a couple of years ago),
prices were twice that in Israel, when you bought your own server (i.e.
the price doesn't include the hardware).
Can you recommend a good Israeli hosting company with such prices?
No, the price is in USA. The price

With today's pricing, you can rent a PC in a hosting company for
something like $70-$90 a month with a Linux distro or FreeBSD, 512MB
RAM, 80GB hard drive, and 750-1000GB transfer

That's not accurate - both sweethome.co.il and spd.co.il have php/

I was very impressed by the service of spd a while ago when I got a 5
minute recovery of a database a client accidently erased.
Working in Israel makes sense

Hi List.

So how does it work for you without physical access?
If you have very good backups, and reinstalling the OS on a new disk is
part of their service, you can get by. Note that most of the US ones do
not sell or lease the server to you -
try:
ifconfig ppp0:1 second ip adress up

That is about the same as the first thing I've done (as mentioned below), and
has no effect.

ip a add ip dev ppp0

Hi,
Some thoughts:
1. What about trying to establish 8 other PPP sessions on the WRT?
2. Can you ask netvision to create a static route in their servers for the 8
IPs through your primary static IP? Or better, if the 8 form a subnet, ask
them to define the primary static IP as the subnet's
