I agree, a VPS is recommended mainly if you need a managed server. if you
take a server at the states i might like to be a client.

Didi,

I've been using VPS before, and I got burned. twice. You never know
who is your "neighbour" in the next VPS, and you really don't know
whatever your neighbour's application might choke the system.

Short story: the last time I used a VPS hosting, I had times where the
machine was so slow, that simply dynamic pages were coming only after
lots of time. Apparently my "neighbor" VPS was running a match dating
web site on his VPS and his SQL queries simply chocked the machine.

With today's pricing, you can rent a PC in a hosting company for
something like $70-$90 a month with a Linux distro or FreeBSD, 512MB
RAM, 80GB hard drive, and 750-1000GB transfer per month. YOU are the
master of the server and you decide what to do with, whether you want
to sub-rent a part of it etc..

Thanks,
Hetz
