The mic of my thinkpad 570 don't work.
I'm running debian sarge with kde.
Kmix shows that the mic is enabled, but when i try to record, i get no sound.
Also Skype complains about it.
I need a start guess, so i can start investigate this problem.

I've had ternmendous problems with skype and michrophone issues with kde.
In the end (through hints supplied in skype - linux excelent forums
and coverage on sound problems) I foun dthat skype and other
microphone related programs like krec for instance use settings that
are set in gnome or generi
Did you try playing around with alsamixer ?
(sometimes 'external' tools like kmix don't have all the controls/ get
confused by specific drivers etc.)
You need to try various combinations - some cards have mutiple mic/record
toggles, and options that don't work together.
