I used fdisk to clear all partitions. But when I boot up my box I still get a

The message reads, from a Mandrake installation, There was an error
installing packages XXX. Do you wish to continue. This goes through every
package I selected.
File partitions. I used fdisk to partition and then put Reseirfs on them.
Then I let Mandrake do the partitioning automatically
I redid the partitions and then formatted them with Reiserfs. I then selected
the packages to be installed. None of the packages could be installed. After
waiting quite a while I got messages saying, for example, xxx program had

Somehow, I have managed to make my CD invisible.
I do have the directory mnt/cdrom but nothing is shown there. (using Midnight
Commander.)

Are these really necessary? I never had problems without one but I only have
Linux on my box and no other users.
How about Swapfiles instead of a swap partition? Does this really work?

My modem now fails to initialize. It worked fine before but now hangs.
The modem is fine as I can use it with my old box. From the KPPP manual
it says I may have such problems if mgetty is using the same line. But
in the sysguard I don't find such a process running. I did see mingetty

Under Mandrake 9.0 my printing jobs just hang forever. After the
installation I was able to print and then sometimes printouts would come
through after turning on and off the computer. Now nothing
Printer works fine as I tested it with my girlfriends laptop.
