A more detailed approach. I made a mess of installing a custom kernal. (2.4x). I tried again with a new kernel. 2.64. This didn't work so I decided to start again as there was little installed. I downloaded the newest source mage (with the 2.63 kernetl), deleted all partitions, reformatted the
