Hi,
This one is for the Coder of the module raid1 (and I guess the others 2)
Why in the world did you chose 0x32 as number in the ioctl _IOW call??
The number is '2' in ascii, and with the Documentation/ioctl-number.txt in the
back.. it really doesn't figure...
But anyway, besides that... 8-)

1. Where is Martin Bene's failed disk patch?
Usually on the list archives; also available on
ftp://ftp.sime.com/pub/linux/raid-failed-disk.tar.gz
3. Do I really need the failed disk patch? If the event counters
(14 and 15) are to be believed, the two "failed" disks
Hi all,
on a kernel 2.0.36, patched with 0.90 tools, i'm testing a simple raid 5
conf with four disks.
Everything works fine, i've created tree partititon on th efirst disks,
where the second is swao and the third of 16M is the /boot partiton.

I issued a mkraid /dev/md0 with a mdtab set up for a simple mirror. What do I
need to do to keep the mirror active upon reboots. It seems to forget about it.
Also probably related to this, I cannot mount /dev/md0 upon bootup.
I would appreciate any help.

Hello,

Hello all,
Sorry for such a simple request but I can't seem to get mkraid to work.
I want to mirror (RAID-1) two 4.2 GB SCSI drives (/dev/sda, /dev/sdb).
Distribution: Redhat 5.2 (Linux 2.0.36)
Software: RAIDTools 0.50 BETA 10
The Multiple Devices Driver Support is enabled in the kernel
Hi,
I have been trying to set up a Raid 1 mirror using Redhat 6.0 using
stock kernel and raidtools that are included on their CD. I have tried
to follow the Software How-To read all the newsgroups etc. including
linux-raid archives. I am not a newbie to computers but I am to linux. I
can follow

We've been doing some initial testing - looking at using RAID-1 mirroring
with md, but have not had much luck so far.
We've set up a raid1 device with two separate IDE drives on separate
controllers (on-board).
To simulate a drive failure, we've cut the power to one drive while the raid
set is
With the improvements that RAID is undergoing, I've become a little
confused, so forgive the FAQ-ish question.
Do I understand correctly that with RAID compiled into the kernel and
persistent superblocks used, that I can boot off of a RAID drive without
initrd or anything else additional?

Hi,
First off, thanks for the information on the Adaptec SCSI cards. I have
decided to go with software raid but have a question which doesn't seem to
be in the howto.
Is it possible to add a disk to a raid0 array using software raid without
destroying it? In the howto, it refers to adding a

If not, what is required to boot RAID?
You do have to do a couple of special things, but
Hi there!
I'm curious about some of the issues relating to RAID performance under
linux. I don't have a hardware or device driver kind of background though,
so I have a couple of questions for y'all... the meat of this stuff really
isn't explained in the HOWTO's.
I've worked with computers for
