raid there is currently only one OS that you can do it with, linux, and the
lilo setup need only concern itself with that. That bit of fact made the
patch *far* simpler than it would have otherwise been, and the net result is
that it will work fine (under our testing anyway)
sck all my /dev/mdx
drives and they check clean. I can mount the file systems and they all
work. mdstat indicates all is well.
Anyone have any ideas what happened and how to fix it?

since all my drives are ide (I know don't you think i WANT SCSI!).
I am assuming the ide patches is in place of the raid0145-19990824-2.2.11
patch and not in addition to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

a bit on the cards DFSTATUS register was getting set early. It would correct
itself within 5 cycles, so the fix was to test the bit 5 times and see if it
*still* was set. That would catch the glitch. Go figure.
Anyway, I'm attached a test patch for you to try out. If it fixes
Well unbelievable you are right...even though it clearly states linear
raid does not use chunk-size adding it in raidtab allowed it to
mkraid. Thank the lord and thank you for your suggestion :)

Hello, I've seen this subject in here before but
I have yet to find a solution that works for me.
I have tried many different combinations including
using raidtools-19990824-0.90.tar.gz in combination
with kernel 2.2.12. The patch works fine (with one
rej that people have mentioned) and kernel co
geometries. I think the BIOS is setting hda in
tranlation mode, and leaving hdc alone. Is there any way to force linux
to overide the BIOS and use the real geometries on both?

Does the
equivalent exist in 0.90 (eg, --force-resync)?
If so, would this be the proper thing to do?
Any other ideas?

I would think that the data on the disks is ok and
probably still consistent with the other six. I'm
running 2.2.0 with raidtools 19990128-0.90 and

Any ideas?

Hi All,
what is the best way to check a RAID ext2 file system
(eg, after a crash when it was not cleanly umounted)?
Can one just run: fsck.ext2 -a /dev/md0 ?
Thanks
Doug
Hi All,
I have a raid 5 set up with kernel 2.1.124 and raidtools 0.90.
It works fine. However, it is not clear how one knows whether
a disk has failed. Is there a way to automate the disk failure
notification (eg, to send mail to the sys admin)?
Thanks
Doug
