I have a Microsoft SideWinder GameVoice. It seems to work fine in
2.4.20-pre5-ac4 (I don't use it for anything though). However under
2.5.40 if the device is plugged in during boot it causes an oops. If
the device is plugged in after bootup has completed it does not seem
to cause an oops.

We are trying to develop a single device multiple interface USB
device. Now we have made one interface as a printer and we want the other
interface to be a scanner. Now how do We get Linux to load separate drivers
for each interface . We had earlier tried out with both interfaces a

I think you were looking at some re-initialization issues.
Here's one of them ... I've seen similar problems before,
but without so many stack frames. (I hope most are fake!)
