One of the changes Jordan made was to always build v3 with no payload
and then add it later with any binary blobs that might be needed.
This way you can change them without rebuilding v3.

otherwise, if you're using snserial there is some option to do that as well.
You can set up snserial to output to a pty, and then do a
cat 'ptyX myfile.log. But it would be a good idea to make snserial
output to a logfile. I'll add that to my todo list.

And last but not least, it is rather difficult to take a laptop apart to get
at the motherboard, yet still keep everything working.
