One of my pet peeves -- and something a lot of you have probably received
a note about -- is people who quote the entire original message right
down through the footer. The header. The ads. Everything.
I go through each digest, scrolling past screen after screen of quoted
material. It's too muc
s job will pay a lot better than retailing cameras.
On the minus, it will take me away from LEM more hours during the week.
With site income where it is, this is a necessary tradeoff.
Another plus: I won't have to work Saturdays. I can have my weekends
back. :-)

In response to some recent issues, I've added the following paragraphs to
the list FAQs:
What about anti-spam services?
We already take the steps necessary to keep spam off our lists. Whatever
filtering you do with your email software and your email service is up to
you.
That said, we take a

release it as open source once it's up and running. But until we can
manage things like reading incoming email and sending it out again,
managing subscription requests, etc., we're stuck with the current setup.

Maclaunch is aware of the problems we've been having with digests -- but
hasn't heard back from Communigate yet.
Until then, I've adjusted digest size downward on the less busy lists,
from 20 messages max. per digest to 10 or even 5. Hope this gets things
moving again.

Over the weekend we updated out Terms of Use for the site. The following
specifically applies to our email lists and forums:

violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others; which is
unlawful, threatening, abusi
I just put subscribers back on a half-dozen different lists -- all @home
users. This is getting old fast.
I'm also changing the way the list server handles bounces. The way it has
been set, when it is unable to deliver a message due to a full mailbox or
downed server, it temporarily unsubscrib
subscribers seem to be immune, so switching to digest mode may be a
workable alternative to moving to a new email address.

For the past three days, we've been having far more than the usual
problems with @home email addresses. List after list, subscribers with
@home.com email addresses are being dropped because the @home mail server
is reporting that those addresses have failed.
