I can pick up the 250 roller real cheap.. That's what got me thinking along these lines. Do it. Do it. Do it. Anyone know of an available Ninja 750 roller? I would go the EL Chopper route, but I don't know how far I want to get into frame modification. Pleaes don't fall into a Ninja only

How is that the battery instrument panel project coming along? Does anyone know? There's a couple of projects out there. On the EVTech listserve they're developing a very nice one for cars though we could scale it down for bikes. Then there's EM Dash of course but they guy who's spear

Interesting thought started on that one, Mike. I like that precooler so to speak. I think Peltier exchangers would help in this instance, but I would be concerned with the sudden temp change on the brushes, i.e. cold to hot. Whether I was thinking of something that is for pit use, ie not a

I haven't had an issue with melting Etek solder at momentary currents up to 800 amps. The key is momentary. If I wanted cooling though, I think I'd go with spraying CO2 on the motor during the run. I have had the brushes and comm get warm, but there's enough cooling between runs to take

Here's a couple of thoughts. First for the drag racer amongst us: What if you could cool your motors before the race? I mean, like make some copper coils that can slip over them in the pits that run off to a refrigerant and get them really, really cold just before the run. Then slide the coils

Then of course time to purchase a (100 amp?) load tester Got one of these myself: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=91129 works great for the price. I don't think that an Etek at 48 volts will give you enough power. I have heard that they melt down if you try

The best bet is to do go the the 4qd website and do the calculations for the ratio needed for you wheel size and desired speed. Front sprockets are cheap ~$10 each. I made is so my best guess gearing put a 13 tooth on the motor, but I also have an 11 and 15 tooth sprocket which I actually do

Also don't forget about voltage sag as the batteries discharge. My bike is 72v nominal. Coming off the charger is around 78 volts and if I discharge all the way down to 10 volts per battery that is 60V (worst case). That is a pretty wide top speed spread to keep in mind. Here is the
