The perfect setup might be a Delco internally regulated alternator to keep
the starting battery topped up, plus a large (150-200 Amp) externally
regulated unit for the house battery.

Sun Electronics in Miami is where I get my PV.
They have a large selection and move pallet loads of PV. I suspect most
goes to Central/South America.
The prices these days vary from about .75/watt to $3/watt.

Next time you might want to try the Chrysler externally regulated
alternator I use. Available at most all auto parts stores as stock item
and you don't have to open it up.

I can go about two days without bright sun or wind. With 1,300 Watts of PV
if the sun shines brightly I can easily keep up. The wind spinners (two
KISS units) do not put out as much as the PV but help stave off the use of
