If it is grabbing '/tftpboot/kernel' then I'd say you have a DHCP issue.
It should be something like '/lts/vmlinuz-2.4.9-ltsp-5'
Maybe if you show us the dhcpd.conf file, we will see something.

You can't use a laptop as a dumb terminal, at least not easily, because PCMCIA cards
don't have bootable rom images.

DHCP is running, seems to assign an IP to the workstation. The

I had this same problem the other day when testing a new RH 7.2 server.
My solution wasn't a fix, but a quick hack to get it working. Put the
address (194...) in the lts.conf file instead of the machine name. It
will work at that point. Knowing that that fixes it, the problem must

You can partion your laptop HD to install a small Linux distro (eg
Slackware 3.5) then use command /usr/X11R6/bin/X -query 192.168.0 xxx
(the IP of your server). Of course you need to also partition your
Win98 box and install Linux then allow remote access for X terminal
