If I remember right, for me, I would only get a gray screen with an X
pointer until I changed this parameter. It is in the LTSP documentation
under the troubleshooting section. Looks like you would have to do the same
for Gnome.

Jo,
Yes, absolutely you are allowed to do this. In fact, I
encourage you to do it. It is an excellent way to
spread the word.
Thanks, and let us know how it goes,

Hi,
I would like to write an article about LTSP to be published on Linuxfocus.
This is a Linux magazine made by Linux users for Linux users. The articles
get to be translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian
and Turkish. I would write the article in Dutch and probably ta

You could create a script to run once an hour through cron. Put your terminal users
under a new group such as "termuser". The script
would do the following:
1. Get a list of the processes running by the users in your new group "termuser"
2. Find which users who are logged in that belong to

Mosix is getting the IP of the machine based on the value from $hostname. If I use a
static IP for the terminal and pass the hostname
using "option hostname "ws251" for example everything works. I copied the hosts file
from the server to /opt/lts/i386/etc/hosts. No
dynamic address is needed
Would it not be possible to have a script run at Login that kills all Processes for

What is mosix looking for specifically?
Is it looking for a fqdn from the dns?
Or just a computer name (netbios type computer name?)
If your dynamically assigning IP addresses you'll have to setup DDNS to
update the DNS server with the New IP address whenever the lease expires
and/or a new IP a
Hi Ernst,
I have LTSP 3.0 successfully working in SuSE 7.3. Apparently you do not
have the dhcpd.conf file in your /etc directory. It looks like you may have
misspelled it as 'dhcp.conf'; it should be named 'dhcpd.conf'. It is
supposed to be copied during the ltsp_initialize, but I already had
I have the following setup:
I do have in my dhcpd.conf:

I also have tried the option for looking up lease hostnames.

Make sure you have this set in the global scope of things

suppose, you cannot use the RPL bootloader in the ROM. You will need to

Thanks for your replies. Now I can start looking for proper chips to do

Hello,
DHCPD is not setting the hostname variable on the clients. If I use the hostname
option and send a test hostname it works. I'm using
dynamic address allocation. I am working with mosix and need to have the hostname
set. Any thoughts?

The default size of the RSA key signature generated by the 'ipsec

Alfredo,
Hmm, it works fine here.
The missing insmod log could be because we now use modprobe
instead of insmod.
Did the 3.0.1 kernel work for you ?
And, I know that it also works fine with VMware.
This is what I have setup for my vmware workstation:
[vmware]
DNS_SERVER = 192.

hi,
I got two questions:
1. WHat is the difference between the k12 ltsp distro and the rpms from
ltsp?
2. The rpm-apps that comes with the k12 disto, are they localized in the
same way as the the netscape rpm from the ltsp.org main site?

You can run your ltsp clients in both text mode and graphical mode (X).
This is done by setting the RUNLEVEL in the /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/lts.conf file
for your clients.
RUNLEVEL = 3 (text mode)
RUNLEVEL = 5 (GUI)

hardware, you can use the built in code to boot but you need a modified

Hi all there,
I am very new with linux, so excuse me, if it seems simple to you.
I am working on an IBM Netvista 2800 thin client.
Connections to WinNT Terminal Server (ICA Metraframe 1.8) and AS/400 5250
Terminal are made from the NetStation.
How can i connect to my new Linux Server (Suse 7.1)
Jim,
Thanks for your reply. Apparently, the chips that I use was bought from
disklessworkstation.com. Anyway, since the chip is hardly found around
here, I am considering whether or not there are other chips available to
replace 29EE512. Perhaps the ones easily available in our local market.
