More information is needed to diagnose this. Does the string received from the
DHCP server match an actual location on the server? Is that location
exportable to the address supplied to the workstation? Have you checked

We need your help now and fast (if possible), please!

That is it: Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 01:00
Our configuration for the first worksation that we was installed:

Since Macromedia seems to need a bit of encouragement to fix the remote

"plug-in" that would handle the Flash mime type and provide the users
with a "You can not view this Web page because..." message as well as

exported (the problem as I understand it is actually Macromedia's). Just a

For anyone who's interested, I've just tested Macromedia's new Shockwave
Flash 5.0 r50 plugin with LTSP, and Mozilla 0.99 still crashes, but
Netscape 4.78 now displays flash OK without crashing.

hi
i have a problem with my ltsp setup. When i boot up my client it hangs (sleeps)
at the point "Searching for Server (DHCP) ...". I checked /var/log/messages
of my server and it says its offering an ip address to the client ... seems
like the ip address doesnt reach the client.
The funny (s
Hi,
I am fairly new to LTSP, I had a server setup about a year ago at home
and it worked like a charm, but I had to reinstall Linux and never
installed LTSP again. Well it is time to try again =o)
Now what I am wondering about how are the multimedia capabilities of
LTSP, specificly concerning T
You need to make sure you have something like 32768 or 65536 in
/proc/sys/fs/file-max (and if you have older kernels than around
2.4.1[678], you will need to modify /proc/sys/fs/inode-max similarly).
You will want to shoot for increments of 2 to 4 times the current value
in those files, until
I can never remember which, but it looks like you need to enable or
disable BackingStore in your XF86Config configuration for the
thin-clients. Hopefully someone knows where to get that information.

Got it! And we'll be writing up the docs and creating packages for just
that thing. It was truly one of the most horrific things I've ever had
to do to a computer. I can honestly say, "Holy Carpfins, that was NOT
what I expected."

Is anyone out there running any type of java applications on their LTSP
Server? I am having the following problem.
My environment:
PIII 1.2
512 mb ram
RedHat 7.3
LTSP 3.0.4
Thin clients are a mix of Pentium & PIII's.
The Server and the ThinClients all work fine. I can run any KDE/Gnome app
I have a brand new EPIA 5000 which I've got to boot
over the LAN thanks to James Linders PXE How-to.
The problem is that the display doesn't work in graphics
mode. My Sony Multiscan monitor reports that the freq
is out of range. XF86 correctly reports that it is
dealing with a Trident etc. but
Yeah, I'm still trying to get rpc.statd working correctly. Any hints as
to how to get it working? I've got to have this working 3 days ago and
I'm going to have to give up and use ssh and lpd soon. That however is
not the best of the options.
