Hi
Would a few people mind publishing any price info they have (or
know of) for the Jammin 125 and its ilk in different countries?

LTSP is available as .rpm, .deb, or .tgz, so the quick answer to 'which
distribution' is that it doesn't matter. However, if you run into
problems, you stand a better chance of getting help from the mailing
list if you use one of the common distros (RedHat, Debian...). Some
sites choose RH on the
Hi
Could anybody who has done autologin to differant accounts from each
terminal, and who is using GDM please share 1/2 doz lines of HOWTO.
Jim said he can do from KDM. Easy and obvious ?
Some of my terminals have only touch input (no keyboard), some are display
devices with no input.

Hi,
I am having problem with Etherboot image for sis900

downloaded latest Etherboot-5.0.7 image from

Tom,
Thanks for your feedback.
I got a little bit misunderstood, but that doesn't matter.
I got a Linux disti running on that machine (SuSE) so DHCP and the other
stuff would be no problem.
The other point is, that I got another HDD which contains AIX 5L with
Linux-tools. This would be the right
Hi James,
openMosix is quite new to me. Kindly advise what shall be the advantage
of adding openMosix to LTSP which is only a single server and its
clients are diskless workstation without OS.
Thanks

If your single server is running out of capacity, one way to expand is
to add additional servers and build an openMosix cluster. For
example, if you work in an organisation that is throwing away PIII 600MHz
PCs with 256Mb RAM because they are 'too slow' for Windows XP, then you
can grab them from
Stephen,
Basically the idea is to combine the processing power of all the idle CPU
cycles on the client terminals (since all they are doing is running
Xwindows or a shell if you set them to boot at runlevel 3) with the server.
Kind of similar to having a really big multi-processor SMP box ;-)
After some changes I am getting this error
TFTP error 2 (access violation)
Any help please.
Thanks

John,
i filled the survey, but there is no place for comments, and i
have one important comment: the survey asks about one server, i have
several. don't you want to at least allow for mentioning it? should i have
skipped the survey because i have more than one server? julius

Hi folks!
Yes, I got it running!
But only with runlevel 3.
If I boot up the client in runlevel 5, I get the following error:

libXext.so.6: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory

Tobias,
Wow, sounds pretty cool.
The reason you are getting the error is because with XFree86 4.2,
some of the shared libraries have moved around a bit, compared with
what LTSP was expecting.
So, you need to rebuild your ld.so.cache file.
Normally, you would do this command on the server

That's right, we now have the FULL sources for the upcoming
LTSP-4.0. This is what we are calling 'alpha-1', which means
it's not even ready for beta yet, but, you can get it, and
compile it and see what we're doing.
To compile it, you'll need the LBE. That's the

Hello all,
I finished fooling around with LTSP at home and am now installing it in
it's final environment. Everything went well, but when I start the
workstation, it gets to the point where it loads the kernel.
At this point the dots start moving across the screen indicating that it is

I assume it is not referring to the capacity of hard drive.
Hi guys!
I got it! LTS is running on my IBM RS/6000 B50B (7046) with SuSE 7.3.
To get it running it's not that big deal, but the distri (SuSE) is so
annoying (there is no other up-to-date distri which supports this
hardware instead of AIX). To find the right config files and settings it
takes

Thanks, Jim. I appreciate your help on this one. If gdm can't do it,
then I'll switch to kdm -- there's nothing binding me to gdm.
By the way, I've been meaning to ask you. When I got my first

Remembering back to SuSE 7.3 I think the setting could be changed in the
rc.config editor bit of yast2 (found under the System section). You need to
