Actually, he says "while building", but I'd say these
are messages that are appearing when he is running his kernel.
I'll be that his tmp filesystem didn't get mounted on /tmp.
Maybe he didn't use my .config file when building his kernel,
so it didn't create the ramdisk.

You need to run this command on the server:
ldconfig -r /opt/ltsp/i386
That should take care of your keyboard woes.

Jeff,
Could you send me your /etc/dhcpd.conf file ?
Also, you said you don't think it is a firewall problem,
but it is worth turning the redhat firewall completely, just
to see if it has any effect on the situation.
Just try: service iptables stop

fine now, but the etherboot clients still hang at "done". I stopped

Take a look at:

I was facing the same problem you are - trying to get Mozilla (well, I'm

I recently found a Compaq XP1000 Professional Workstation (It's a 500mhz
Alpha Processor, with 1gb ram) collecting dust on the retired hardware
shelf. As I have 20 Linux machines deployed, I figured the Alpha would
make an ideal management station. It took a bit longer than I expected,

I downloaded an older kernel (ltsp_core-3.0.9-0.i386.rpm the one I install
first was ltsp_kernel-3.0.10-0.i386.rpm), but the terminal is still
hanging after "done". I also tried another terminal with a linksys
w/etherboot prom card in it, same results.
I installed the pxestuff-3.0.5-i386.tgz, and
