Daniel, I would think that running LTSP clients across a WAN is a bad idea for several reasons: 1) If the WAN goes down, none of the remote clients can do anything (i.e. wordprocessing, spreadsheets, games, etc.) 2) High speed WAN's usually have high recurring costs. 3) I believe the sweet spot

Rick, With LTSP-4 and newer, you shouldn't need to set the XSERVER to anything other than 'auto'. You might be running into a problem with getltscfg. there was a bug in ltsp-4.0, that has been fixed in 4.1. You can get the updated getltscfg program by doing this: wget http://www.ltsp.org/get
