using lbe to compile more modules I need (video support) I get

NFS swap was turned on _after_ the crashes.
The three workstations were back up and running the rest of the day and
following day (now), although one of the workstations crashed again on
the same day.
As noted in older posts to this list, the nfs swap may fix it. I just
