I'd still recommend a true server motherboard over a fast desktop. LTSP
needs more than just a fast CPU, it needs I/O.

1) upgrade BIOS to the very latest
2) look for BIOS setting that allows you adjust the amount of VRAM
allocated at boot time.

server can't be your LTSP server. You'll just need to manually
configure DHCP/TFTP and NFS (Client Services for Unix as MS calls it) on
the Windows server. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 10mb Ethernet
(if that) between the LTSP Server and clients.
