Walter,
I was finally able to get this issue resolved (I think...). I'm not sure which of
these changes really made the difference, since I didn't do them one-by-one, but
here's what I did:
1) Disabled the onboard AMD nic
2) Threw in a generic tulip nic and went into bios and adjusted the IRQ
I'm having the exact same problem, just posted it to the K12osn list. I'll post any
solutions to this thread as well.
I think the problem is independant of the nic being used. I've run into this with
pcnet32:lancepci and rtl8139 clone cards. I've also tried two different switches. With

Hi there,
I'm having the same problem and it seems to depend on the NIC used in
the clients. So far I've tried the following types:

With type A everything works just fine, the clients boot pretty fast.
With type B, though, it all goes rather slow (it needs
I started on my first K12LTSP lab setup this week and I am having an issue with the
first client. To the best of my knowledge the server is setup properly. The client is
a Compaq Deskpro 4000 and I am using a Kingston NIC (KNE111TX . . . i think) with the
tulip driver boot disk. The initial star
Give it a domain name anyway - it needn't work anywhere except your
network. Even server.mapp77.local will do.
/make sure/ your clients are all listed on the server in the /etc/hosts file,
I hand out addresses from 172.20.1.64-172.20.1.255, and have this in my
hosts file ..
172.20.1.64dhcp64
hello:
Yes, the NFS server is 192.168.0.254 in eth0, and eth1 is a IP static (cable
modem).
Additionaly, I have a doubt, Do I need a domain name for full functionality?
Thanks and regards
Marco
