Walter, I was finally able to get this issue resolved (I think...). I'm not sure which of these changes really made the difference, since I didn't do them one-by-one, but here's what I did: 1) Disabled the onboard AMD nic 2) Threw in a generic tulip nic and went into bios and adjusted the IRQ

I'm having the exact same problem, just posted it to the K12osn list. I'll post any solutions to this thread as well. I think the problem is independant of the nic being used. I've run into this with pcnet32:lancepci and rtl8139 clone cards. I've also tried two different switches. With the late

Give it a domain name anyway - it needn't work anywhere except your network. Even server.mapp77.local will do. /make sure/ your clients are all listed on the server in the /etc/hosts file, I hand out addresses from 172.20.1.64-172.20.1.255, and have this in my hosts file .. 172.20.1.64dhcp64
