LTSP usually work ok on Ubuntu but 10.4 does not appear to be in that

We have a test LTSP server that we had set up in early April with Ubuntu
Karmic, which works great. When Lucid came out, we used the upgrade
manager to upgrade the server. The upgrade completed without errors, but
when we tried to boot a thin client it failed at the TFTP download,
saying

same thing with the root of the tftp server. I soft linked the
/var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp directory to /srv/tftp/ltsp and built a new client
image.
I get to the beginning of the Ubuntu splash page but I don't get any
movement on
