Strange, I have never had such a problem (LTSP 4.1 & RHEL 3.0 & GDM).
But I know for sure the pinging interval could be setup in gdm.conf

Haivng an odd problem on hoary with X involving ltsp. I think my x
sessions are just dying.
I logged in a user on a remote station and set the system to run that
benchmark, figuring I'd come back in an hour or so and see how it was.
I get no graphical interface. it's just gone. Blackscreen
