First go to

NVIDIA_GLX source rpm. Grab NVIDIA_kernel source rpm. Then get those
to your linux machine (either copy the links and wget, or put them on a
fat32 partition and just mount it in linux). Then install both of
FWIW, my ISO's of Mandrake 9, CD's 1 and 2, didn't come with the kernel
source so I couldn't compile the NVIDIA kernel. When I tried, I got all
sorts of problems. I had to find a Mandrake 9 mirror and download the rpm
then install. After that, it compiled just fine.

From my limited experience, the only distro with 2.4.19 kernel that
works with GeForce4 card is Xandros (beta 3). Perhaps I should not have
written off Xandros so quickly. I have heard that, for networking with
Windows, Xandros does the best job.
Gentoo and Debian work fine with 2.4.19
Really, something must've gone wrong. I'm using mdk 9rc3, which is 99%
the same as mdk9. I installed the nvidia source rpms using the rpm
command, not urpmi. I then compiled them with little problems (at first
I forgot to download kernel-source and was all confused). Then when I
set it up and
it working. Funny thing is on the mandrake website, they don't list the
GeForce4 as being compatible with MDK9

I just installed Mandrake 9, and I cannot start X. I have
checked the graphics card configuration and it was set to Geforce4. When I try
to test the configuration, I get an error message saying " (EE) device cannot be
found" Is anyone succesfully running Mandrake 9 with a Geforce4 Ti4200?
I would have figured it would default to the framebuffer drivers like it
did for my card. But anyhow, here's what you do. First go to
www.nvidia.com . Select drivers, graphics, GeForce, then linux. Grab
NVIDIA_GLX source rpm. Grab NVIDIA_kernel source rpm. Then get those
