the logic of sorting hidden files and directories *before* normal files/dirs?

APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics" CPU, and a 500GB hard drive.
I am having a problem with Xfburn seeing my ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U external
USB 2.0 CD/DVD burner.
When I connect it to the laptop, it shows up in Devices.
I have noticed that both PCManFM here in Lubuntu, and Thunar in ubuntuStudio,
sort hidden files/folders before regular files/folders.
Since this happens in two different file managers in two different
distributions, I am assuming that this is in some common configuration file
somewhere. But,

had. The problem was the theme widget I had selected. Changing the theme
widget fixed it. You might try that, if you haven't yet.
