Dear Kevin:
I would use the Terzi duet version, and leave out the really really hard

It is not hard to find lute/vihuela music which expresses
strong emotion.
However, it is not immediately clear that the composers
preferred 'over the top' performances.
For example, Chopin once expressed admiration for
a pianist "who does not lose control of himself,
and who proceeds correctly
I have plenty more of that edition (all music) of the LSA Quarterly. If
anyone wants one we are selling them for $20 US and you can buy them by
mailing me a check (US $ drawn on a US bank) or calling me (925/686-5800)
or faxing me (925/680-2582) with credit card details.

The Pakistani lute which I bought was not playable:
the nut was wildly high, the frets would not lay down
on the fingerboard, causing buzzing, and the pegs had
sticking problems.
Also, the string spacing was fairly poor at both bridge
and nut.

I have been learning Christmas pieces out of last November's (2004) LSA
issue. There are over 20 Christmas songs in that issue. Its helpful for a
lute novice like myself. I am not sure if these songs are helpful to anyone
else.
