[BAROQUE-LUTE] Unknown Kremsmunster passacaglia

2009-04-07 Thread Daniel Shoskes
Lundgren's baroque lute companion is a great source of music but irritatingly does not list composers, even when he knew who they were. There is a passagaglia in G major (pg 198) from Kremsmunster L83b that is quite nice (ok, I've never met a chaconne or passacaglia that I didn't like!).

Ariel, last year I started a very similar enquiry concerning Claudin de Sermisy lute intabulations. The best hint I've got came from Jean-Marie Poirier suggesting to check the following catalogue: Howard Mayer Brown, Instrumental Music printed before 1600: a bibliography, iUniverse, 2000

Perhaps indications of forte and piano, of which many pieces in Gehema and Werl abound (both mss. middle of 17th century), pertain to this? Gehema has French dances with these indications, and if you try, the music will result in utterly pashenat 8) performance. Mathias Ron Andrico
