Not counting any suites, which are made up of separate pieces, the
longest single piece that I know is a ricercar in the Siena lute book.

Dear Leonard,
Apart from only minor differences, the two versions do indeed appear to
be identical. I would however disagree with you on the matter of the
hands. Apart from the rhythmic notation ('grids' on 34r, single flags
on 35v), the writing seems to be identical. Notice
Ron, can you tell me on what folio in Wickhambrook the setting of Je

only lute settings that I know of are Brogyntyn p. 14, BL Add. 4900
fol. 62r, Osborne commonplace book (aka Braye) fol. 17v-18r, Paris

facsimile except the one
available form the LSA.
If you are a member of the LSA you can download it. However, it is

Rainer aus dem Spring, to the cittern book Dd.4.23 in Cambrdge. The
concordances to this source are quite intriguing, and for this reason I
would very much like to see a facsimile of Dd.4.23. So far, I
Many of the pieces in the Paston lute books are intabulations of
polyphonic pieces (motets, movements from masses, madrigals,
fantasias), with the superius part left out. The superius part can of
course be played on recorder.
