My best compliments for your recording and for giving us such
comparison possibility. Apologies for being in the incorrect side*,
but I prefer the Rutherford version. I found on it a natural
reverberation I like so much, not present at Tomlinson one in my
opinion. And yes, -sorry

the reason?
I believe that I'm playing baroque lute now thanks to his Weiss
Infidele, from the 70's. Hearing in those days at this beautiful
music went me to the lute, and now I'd like to know a little more about
this awesome musician. Thanks.

I want to encourage you to keep enjoying the lute and the music for a very
long time.

P.S.: Jon, I'm also playing a 10c. lute I built from a kit in 1980. This was
a very funny adventure that ended happily

might like this wonderful take on it!

Thanks also for your contribution, Jon. I agree mainly with you but I

that pianists, fortunately, have
to the right of the former position, as we can see in the

octave. That's probably trying to minimize the *slapping effect?*)

brief poll about your lute string spacing may help me.
Thanks all the people in advance. And specially thanks to Roman Turovsky for

Hi Benjamin:
I *love* a version by the french theorbist Pascal Monteilhet of the Visee
work, playing a Mathias Durvie theorbe. I'm speaking of a double CD at
low/mid price, including three Bach's cello suites arranged for theorbe.
Greetings,

Dear lute friends:
Excuse me in case I'm boring you with too much newcomer questions, probably
over-answered in the past. Well, let's go to the matter. It's said all
around that the ideal lute to play S.L. Weiss is the know as swan neck or
theorboed model and, really, the most of the recordings

would anyone recognize a work originally composed for lute when transposed
up a

This is hard to find and comes from the vinyl version
on the right hip bone. I have used it
myself
this way. However, the shape of the lute does not commend itself to this
method!

Believe or not, Katherine, even today there is some Spanish flamenco
guitarists that play guitar standing up without any strap (rather for
playing while singing). I used renaissance lute in this way, but I must to
recognise that the strap is more confortable... but not indispensable. I

Greetings Juan!
Re-entrant tuning is typically described as a lower course being higher
pitched than one or more courses above it. Baroque guitar and the
ukulele use re-entrant tuning. If
