(intabulation) and a transcription is not my invention.
I am using the accepted music dictionary definitions, and have
posted the ones from New Grove elsewhere. Perhaps
too much emphasis in music is placed on originality.

Tablature for me is the best solution for playing the lute. The only
problem I see is when I would like to transpose it into another key.
