The test file is indeed broken. It contains \begin_inset Formula \begin{equation} tdot}\frac{\partial g_{tt}} [...] and the math parser is complaining about the unexpected '}' after 'tdot'. Similarly for the other 'errors'. So everything is fine form mathed's point of view. Andre' -- André

Okay this is Friday, so bear with me. Attached a patch that adds spreadsheet functionality to the tabular. Doesn't work very well yet and is obviously limited. But if you like this kind of thing, give it a swirl. I did this really to get to know better the LyX architecture (or lack of same)
