I think it's more custom than policy that we do this for the last stable
release. There were already voices that we could include lyx2lyx part

Currently 2.0.7git is unable to open files with the 2.1 format. From
what I understand, this is because there's still a chance that we
might increase the file format before the release of 2.1. However,
