Ubuntu user upgrading from 2.0.3 to 2.1.3 could not export because of home folder

A user upgraded to Ubuntu 15.04 and LyX would not export (greyed out). Removing the LyX user directory solved the problem. Reconfigure did not solve the problem. The user posted the LyX user directory here:
