The time-out restriction is from LyX, so Sweave/knitr cannot do
anything about it.
My current workaround is to export Rnw from LyX, run knitr on it with
cache turned on, and run LyX again since the time-consuming chunks
have been calculated and cached.

FWIW, here is the repository for the R batchfiles:
http://code.google.com/p/batchfiles/ I'm not familar with Python, and
I hope this could be helpful to our potential Python hackers.

I'll be glad to do 12, if JMarc has not done the job yet. How long is
that supposed to be?
BTW, I will spend some time on the Sweave manual as well as the ticket
#7555 in the next few days.

So where should I send the translated zh_CN.po? I did not seem to find
an instruction on the website. Does it go to trac as a ticket?

No. AFAIK, Rtools has nothing to do with Sweave.sty. It is the step 4
in the article you cited that solves this problem:
4. Copy Sweave.sty from share/texmf in the R installation directory to
some place in your LaTeX path.

You are right. Maybe we can automatically replace dots with - or _ in
the next version for the prefix. Sweave needs more intelligence,
though.

On

In all, I believe the probability of a failure in LaTeX compilation
can be made extremely low.

Or do you mean LaTeX can deal with spaces in paths under Windows? like
\usepackage{C:\Program
Files\R\R-2.13.0\share\texmf\tex\latex\Sweave.sty}
Your last point is also my concern. We will have problems when
exporting the tex document (Sweave.sty will not go with it).
Re

here .cmdargs is a character vector to receive options from Rscript
(it begins with a dot so that the user will not see it by default,
e.g. ls() will not show it).
