I've been using lyx 0.12 for a while now, and since I had some
spare clock cycles, I decided to install the preview version. I am
running debian hamm, with all the usual niceties on an i586/200. lyx
compiled fine, and was installed just as fine. ldd lyx gives all
expected

Thank you for your response. That is just what I have done. I
created a fr_menus.bind, put it in ~/.lyx/bind, and edited lyxrc
accordingly.
