software behind Wikipedia, comes with a little program called 'texvc'
that just might be of some use in LyX. This program AFAICT includes a
latex math parser and can give useful feedback about syntax errors. It

I just installed 1.4.4 for windows using the Standard web installer
found at ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/1.4.4/lyx-144-2.exe. The
installation seems to complete just fine, but when I double click on
the icon it crashes with a message "lyxc.exe has encountered a problem
and needs to close

defined as the Compose character. Try to enter the è as:
Ctl-. e `or reversed: Ctl-. ` e
If necessary, it's possible to define another character as Compose (or,
more 'modern', as MultiKey). I think this is even easier that ERT, and
the character appears as such on the screen.

When I export PDF documents from LyX for Windows (using any method), it uses
the bitmap versions of the Computer Modern fonts. However, if I export a tex
file to PDF through the Texmaker editor (again with Windows), it uses Type 1
Computer Modern fonts. Why is this?

Maybe this is asking too much, but I was wondering if it was possible to
generate a separate PDF file for each chapter and bibliography. Right now I
have each one of my chapters in a separate lyx file as well as a separate
lyx file for the bibtex references. I know its possible to compile each

I just downloaded LyX for Windows 1.4.3-5 and I get this persistent error that
makes the program completely unusable. It says that no textclasses are found.
So I look at the mailing list archives, which state that I should blow away my
Application Data LyX directory and regenerate it. I do so
