Perhaps you've set up your path so that aspell.exe is found before whatever lyx is looking for? You might try renaming any aspell exe and dll(s) outside lyx for a moment, and see if that solves the problem. (In my own setup I seem to have two identical copies of aspell.dll, in lyx/bin and lyx/b
