Lyx 1.4.1 work Ok with ispell and words with accents.
In my computer aspell no work with words and accents.
Can you swicht aspell for ispell?
Ispell work well with an option that appears in

If i start lyx with LC_ALL=C lyx all works ok, but from what i found in the
wiki this should no longer happen.
