About 20 years ago, I had a yearly exposition of the big flemish Hobby Computer

I *believe*, the M100 will charge the NiCad battery from the AAs even when
off. Due to that mechanism, the RAM will be preserved until the AA and
NiCad are both dead.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

I’m not a big fan of just replacing all electrolytic caps as a matter of
course. It is always possible to damage traces and things doing unneeded work.
On some equipment experience has shown that some caps (or all) are problematic
though. On the M100 the little black (don’t remember value) ca

Jeff,
In your experience, did you find that the capacitor replacement was
necessary, or was it done as a preventative measure?
I have a M200 that I'm working on that appears to need capacitor replaced,
although not leaving the tell-tale leakage signs.

Thanks Jeff, I'll check it out.

On a related topic, is there an easy way to get a cap kit to perform a complete
cap replacement on an M100? (Ideally including the big memory-retention cap.)
Such as a preset bill of materials with Digikey? I’ve looked but haven’t found
anything.
I have four M100s that still have vintage ele
Your machine may not have been messed with prior, all my electrolytics were

With the timely advice of Mr. Adolph I managed to extract the motherboard,
replace the mobo battery and several capacitors and fit it all back
together again.
With the board out it became clear that someone had been inside before me;
a number of the caps had black dots on them as though someone ha
Charles, the springs are seated in plastic holders that are part of the
bottom case. I use a pair of tweezers to tug the springs vertically, and
eventually they become freed from the bottom case.

In preparation for repair of my M100 I have obtained the replacement
battery and capacitors, and have disassembled the case, separated the
display half from the motherboard and removed all of the screws. The half
of the board away from the battery tray is loose and can be lifted but the

Hi,
I got a 24KB Model 100 about one year ago and I've been using it a lot, but
after some loss of the internal data in the last month, I've checked the
Ni-CAD battery and it seems to show signs of imminent leaking.
So I ordered a new one (3.6V / 80mA) and I would like to know if there are
