I updated my VT with an actual ROM; no problems. It is an odd one; I have a
number of 8201 roms and they are all the same, and different from the one
that comes with vt.

Interesting I wonder if it's a stock rom or he cheated by changing the ROM
to make the emulation work (introducing an incompatibility with physical
hardware)
Otherwise it means that there are multiple hardware and ROM versions in the
wild that need to be kept matched up.

Ken,
I'll pull the image off of mine tonight. I know the M100 had an updated
ROM at some point so I guess the same could be possible for the 8201.
But I have no way to know if mine is pre or post update, or even IF
there was an update.

I just wonder where the 8201 ROM in VirtualT came from. VT has supported the
8201 for so long that I have no memory of its source. It very possibly could
have been with the original files I got from Steven Hurd back in 2003.

ok, so to be clear, you swapped in the VirtualT main rom image? yes, I've
seen that cause problems in real life. I once spent a month trying to
debug REX in PC-8201
Yah, I would recommend that modify your own binary main rom image with y2k
and get that burned instead.
REX fixes y2k via soft
Putting the original system ROM back in fixes the problem. T-Word comes
up no problems. So I guess, I'll need to create an image of my main ROM
and do the Y2K tweak on it rather than the one from Virtual-T. I didn't
realize there were different main ROMs out there.
Thanks Steve!

Alright, I'll check that. It's strange because my unit came with an
Ultimate Rom II installed and that works fine.
The main ROM is new, taken from the Virtual-T image. I replaced the (c)
Microsoft and put my name in but other than that it's the same. I'll put
the original System ROM back in an
I think you should check the main rom. There are a few different versions
out there - one works with REX and one doesn't. Also, check which one VT
is coming with. that's where teh difference lies.
you can write a basic program to compute main rom check sum. just add
numbers and let it roll ove
I'm looking for some thoughts on a problem I am having with a Sardine
OptRom. I have made two orders from an outfit that will burn eproms for
me. Both times I've sent the binary image of the Sardine ROM and neither
one works.
Steve Adolph was kind enough to send me a program to download the Op
