Hi James and all, No, I'm afraid I've never experienced anything like this. When you say locked inside, what do you mean exactly? Are you unable to get out of it even with cmd-tab? Is VoiceOver continually reading its interface when it should be doing other things? If the answer is yes to

Multilingual: Problems downloading additional foreign language voices in Lion

Address Book under Lion

2011-08-24 Thread Michael Busboom
Hello everyone, I am having several issues with the Address Book running Lion. This is not to say that these issues didn't exist while running Snow Leopard; I am only now getting my feet wet, as it were, with Mac's Address Book. One particularly annoying problem I am having is my inability to

Hi Mike, You need to check the voices in the list that you want to download, at which point you will be able to do so. It's been a while since I did this myself, but the process should be the same as it was when Lion first came out. Best, Zack. On Aug 24, 2011, at 10:57 AM, Michael Busboom

Zack, your suggestion was extremely helpful, i.e. it worked! Unfortunately, VO doesn't let you know that the item (or language in this case) needs to be checked. VO seems paradoxically negligent in this context. After all, since the VO cursor is on the language you want, and since you stop

Hi Mike and All, I can agree that it would be nice if VO let you know the state of your checkboxes without prompting, but it doesn't. What you can do is interact with the voice in the table and you'll find it actually consists of two items, a checkbox and the voice name. THe checkbox state is
